How much of the language do I need to know?
Katasaga works best once you have the basics, around A2, which means you can read simple sentences and put a few of your own together. It’s built for the step after vocabulary apps, when you start using what you know in real conversations.
Which languages can I practise?
Seven: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Dutch. It works in both directions, so you can learn French from English or English from French, and every language has stories and live speaking practice.
Do I need a card to try it?
Not for the Free plan. The 7-day Premium trial does ask for a card, but if you cancel before day 7 you won’t pay anything.
How do I cancel?
You can cancel from your account settings at any time. If you subscribed on an iPhone, Apple handles the billing, so you cancel from the subscriptions in your Apple Account instead. Either way, you keep Premium until the end of the period you’ve paid for.
Are my conversations recorded?
Your voice is processed live and never stored as audio. We keep the text of your conversations so you can pick up where you left off, and you can delete it, or your whole account, from Settings. We don’t sell your data and we don’t use ad trackers.

Not yet. Katasaga is on iPhone now and Android is coming soon. Until then you can use it on the web, and beta members will be the first to hear when Android is ready.
Join the betaHow is this different from other language apps?
Most apps drill words and grammar. Katasaga puts you inside a story, where you talk your way through each scene with the characters and use the menus, maps, messages and articles it hands you, just as you would in real life. You practise saying things, not just recognising them.
Will it help with an oral exam?
Speaking regularly is the best preparation for any oral exam, from a GCSE or A-level speaking assessment to a university placement test, and Katasaga tracks your level against the CEFR scale as you go. Dedicated oral exam practice is coming to Premium.

Anyone aged 13 or over. You confirm your age when you create your account.
